No, a SIM Card is not required to receive notifications. We suggest that you connect the system to your internet through Wi-Fi in order to receive notifications on your smartphone using the Smart Life app.
If you do not have access to internet, then you can also receive notifications by using a SIM card with a paid plan through a provider that supports 2G in your area. In the future we will have systems that support 3G and 4G as well.
