Rechargeable batteries could work, but we recommend sticking with the standard AAA non rechargeable Alkaline Batteries as they are 1.5V each (3V total) vs the rechargeable battery being only 1.2V each (2.4V total). With the rechargeable battery having a lower voltage, the sensor would detect a low battery sooner, and could also reduce the wireless distance.
